China: SCAM
I recently got back from China.. A woman approached me complimenting my looks and offering her company to me. However, after politely refusing time after time, she just stormed off. Maybe they have a timer or something. Anyway, makes you feel really uncomfortable. Other times I was approached by students who showered me with attention and wisdom. Even bought me water for the sake of friendship. China is just likely any other country.a couple pretending to be artists. First they ask if I can take a picture for them and then they start the conversation. It was quite obvious. I actually felt bad for them as they were trying hard to convince me to follow them without success. They were country side folks victims of some sort of gang ...Victim#3 thomas donaldsonBen, thanks for being open and telling your story. I've never been victim of this, but it really sounds like the oldest trick in the book (expensive tea in china... champagne in London...etc.).Like taking candy from a baby!,they just pressed the right buttons and fell like a duck. They know that many of these guys go there for sex, manly if they americans or canadians, they are not there because they like culture or want to se monuments. The fact that he didn´t suspect the fact that they spoke english shows how much they livee in a bubble where they assume that world revolves around the there are lots of scams all around the world. i got caught out in Beijing with the bike rickshaw scam. they say 3 yuan to take you to tianamen square in broken English. they stop in some alley near to place where there are other rickshaw and demand 300.i I warned other after that whenever i saw the gangs asking foreigners to go with them as they are " cheaper than taxi" be alert and talk to people who have been there longer than you or been before. stay safe.
