SCAMMED in China - Victims

#1  jimmy

I am a Chinese so I know this kind of methods to hook up people, no matter Chinese person or foreigners. Their targets are some guys who are lack of defensive awareness. I often meet some cheaters on streets, especially they are young and pretty girls , who are dressing pretty and using makeup but asking your help for a little money.

I like to travel and when fishy situations like these pop-up and they speak to me in English I always reply in spanish. This ALWAYS works(for me)So if you are spanish or look spanish or maybe a native english speaker but with knowledge of a foreign european language(example:American but can speak French)then just use that language to help in your situation. If someone makes a strange request or insist on practicing english with me I just say 'perdon, pero no les entiendo'(Sorry, but I don't understand you)

I went to Tiananmen square, too, and got approached at least 15 times by random women. The best thing to do is, when they talk to you, just don't talk back, say something in non-english. This easily gets rid of them. When I was in Shanghai, around The Bund, they are even more relentless. The best thing to do in Shanghai, I found, was to stick your camera phone in front of their faces, and this gets rid of people very quickly.

That's exactly what happened to my husband. Back in May when we were in Beijing, we were walking in the tian'an men square area one night. My mom and I were talking and my husband was walking by himself in front of us (not very far away from us). Two girls suddenly walked up to him and started chatting with him in English. When I saw that, I immediately realized that they were either prostitutes or scam girls, so I walked up to them and talked to them in Chinese. They immediately ran away...

I recently got back from China. Same thing almost happened to me in beijing, tian'anmen. A woman approached me complimenting my looks and offering her company to me. However, after politely refusing time after time, she just stormed off. Maybe they have a timer or something. Anyway, makes you feel really uncomfortable. Other times I was approached by students who showered me with attention and wisdom. Even bought me water for the sake of friendship. China is just likely any other country.
